Welcome to The Yoga Loft Cambridge ~ A Yoga + Movement Studio located in the heart of Preston.
New to The Yoga Loft?
The Yoga Loft is a community-focused studio. A welcoming, non-judgmental space where you are encouraged to be your authentic self and honour your own unique needs. We are here to serve and support you in your yoga and movement practice.
We are a non-competitive studio and we believe that yoga poses and movement should be joyful and adaptive for each individual. Our goal is to help make yoga as accessible and inclusive as we possibly can.
You will be skillfully guided with a secular, down-to-earth approach to yoga & movement that will leave you feeling strong, grounded and empowered.
Our breath-mind-body focus is rooted in sustainable alignment principles which have been cultivated from years of experience and study in the science of yoga, movement, anatomy & biomechanics, yoga philosophy and mindfulness.
Please note that we do NOT physically adjust or do hands-on adjustments in our studio. Our main priority is personal agency, autonomy, comfort and safety for all our students.
Studio Core Values
The practice of yoga that we love so much has rich, deep roots in India and South Asia. We try to honour the roots and essence of yoga by staying true to our core values, which align with the yamas and niyamas of the 8-limb pathway, beginning with ahimsa (non-harm).
We believe that the essence of yoga is more than asana (poses) and movement – that true yoga is collective care for our community and social justice for all. These are some of the beliefs and core values that we hold deeply:
- Kindness, compassion, empathy, and dignity for all
- Justice and equity for all, including those who have been historically oppressed and/or who have marginalized identities (including the rights of Indigenous Peoples, Black and racialized folks who experience racism, disabled people, 2SLGBTQIA+ rights, women’s rights)
- As settlers on this land, we believe the TRC’s 94 Calls to Action must be implemented for true repair and reconciliation
- We believe that housing, food, clean water and health care are the rights of every human being
- We believe each individual should have full agency and autonomy over their own body and mind
- We teach yoga and movement with a trauma-informed lens, which is why we do not perform physical hands-on adjustments in our classes
Our studio is committed to transparency about our core values as we strive to do our part to dismantle our own inherent biases and disrupt colonialism and white supremacy in all its forms. Some of the ways in which are actively trying to uphold our values is by continuing to educate ourselves, to learn (and un-learn) about our history in the land we call Canada through books and courses we have taken including Indigenous Canada (University of Alberta), the Antiracism Course (by Selam Debs), trainings in Trauma Sensitive Yoga, among many other resources.
We regularly donate a portion of our proceeds from our Community Classes or special events to various local nonprofit organizations that uphold these same core values, such as Woodland Cultural Centre, The Food Bank of Cambridge, The House of Friendship, YWCA, among others.
Land Acknowledgement
We recognize and acknowledge that The Yoga Loft Cambridge is located on the land promised to the Haudenosaunee of the Six Nations of the Grand River, and is within the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, and the Neutral (Attawandaron) peoples.
As guests who live and work on this territory, we offer gratitude and honour to those who were here before us, and a deep respect for the relationship that Indigenous peoples have to this land.
As part of our individual and collective ongoing commitment for reconciliation with the original Peoples of this land, we offer this acknowledgement of land and territory, as one small step.
We recognize that our ability to live and work here now is a direct result of the harmful practices and policies of colonization, including expulsion and assimilation. As beneficiaries, we are committed to understanding the true history of Turtle Island (Canada) to help repair damage by continuing to learn, unlearn, work toward reconciliation and foster new relationships with local Indigenous communities.

Sandi Grekoff-Hunt (she/her)

Sandiโs teaching style has been cultivated from 30 years of experience in and study of the science of yoga and movement, anatomy and biomechanics, and mindfulness. Her sequences are created to build strength and mobility in the body, while also being infused with mindful awareness of the breath. She cares deeply for the well-being of her students, providing a nurturing, inclusive studio environment, and invites each student to honour their own unique anatomy.
She has over 7000 hours of teaching experience and is registered with Yoga Alliance as an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT500), as well as an approved Registered Yoga School and Continuing Education provider, educating the next generation of yoga teachers.
Michelle Braun (she/her)

I graduated from the Fall 2019 YTT program at The Yoga Loft. As a lifelong learner I am so grateful for the experience and wisdom that was passed on in this training. Yoga has been part of my life for over 10 years, my practice has helped me to grow stronger and more mindful both on and off the mat. I am excited to have the opportunity to guide others in nurturing mind and body through yoga. I am also a Registered Early Childhood Educator and have shared my love for yoga through mindfulness and movement with children of all ages.
Melanie Garneau (she/her)

I completed my 200hr YTT through Yoga Alliance in 2015 and have been teaching (and learning) ever since. My classes are often sequenced to lead to a peak pose but allow space for the students to choose what is best for them in their body. Options for those seeking more or less of a challenge are also always included. I often remind my students that itโs ok to fall, wobble, or not โgetโ a pose as the beauty of yoga isnโt about perfection but in the ability to let go and give in to the now. This reminder is as much for myself as it is for them.
Stephanie Reeve (she/her)

Stephanie has been practicing yoga for years, however she truly discovered her passion for the practice upon joining The Yoga Loft. This in turn prompted her to begin delving deeper into learning as much as possible, becoming a certified yoga teacher through the 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training offered by Sandi at The Yoga Loft. While she enjoys and practices all forms of yoga, she really connects deeply with the slower, gentler movements, relishing in their benefits – physically, mentally and spiritually, which she appreciates sharing with her students!
Stephanie Greenwood (she/her)

I have been practicing yoga for over ten years, and became a certified yoga instructor in 2024. My own yoga practice has been a continuous journey of self-discovery and growth, which I now share with my students. I believe in creating a welcoming and supportive environment where students feel comfortable exploring their practice at their own pace.
Emily Cooper (she/her)

I completed my 200 hour YTT training in the spring of 2024 at the Yoga Loft. I began practicing yoga as a teenager to complement my competitive dance training. I fell in love with the quiet pace of yoga and the sense of ease and peace I felt on my mat. Now as a busy working mom of two littles, I cherish those calm moments more than ever. As a new teacher I hope to challenge my students physically while also creating space for stillness, reflection and moments of rest. Yoga to me is a beautiful tango of movement and breath and I am honoured to guide this elegant dance.

Mary Bronson (she/her)

I am a married mom to two beautiful daughters aged 23 and 21. I am also a โmomโ to my 5 year old adorable dachshund named Neeko! I enjoy reading, travelling and yoga! I graduated from the University of Guelph with a Bachelor of Science in Human Kinetics. I have always had an interest in the study of human body movement. I started practicing yoga with Sandi in 2012 and joined The Yoga Loft in 2018, when it first opened. In May 2024, I completed my yoga teacher training at The Yoga Loft and obtained 200 hr Yoga Teacher certification. 13 years of yoga practice together with my yoga teacher training has helped me both on and off the mat, improving my overall well-being, strength, flexibility, balance and mindfulness. โโThere is no right or wrong way to do yoga, only your way.โ
Shawn Motard (he/him)

Shawn completed his 200hr Yoga Teacher Training in May 2025 here at the Yoga Loft Cambridge under Sandiโs tutelage, after beginning his yoga journey in 2022. Yoga has helped him stay grounded, calm his mind and body, and find a greater sense of peace. Every personโs body is different, and with day-to-day stressors even your own body can feel different on certain days, therefore he understands and instills to his students that movement and poses can be and look different in every individual. His sequences are themed or build up to a peak pose.
